First, Happy 4th Of July to everyone…. especially those serving in harm's way here in America and across the world- military, firefighters, police, and others.
I hope it will be and depending on when you read this, has been a safe and wonderful 4th of July holiday for you, your friends and family.
In thinking back to that day and time leading up to 07.04.1776, it's no secret that those great people were bound and determined to see our country through the course that they had set for themselves when they declared for our independence.. They were hungry for the outcome they desired and today we are all thankful for their hunger and determination
We owe a great deal to those founders as well as those that served in the fighting forces that help make it all a reality then and those that continue to serve in harm's way to help keep all that was fought for back then- just as real for us all today.
I know that you have and will have many videos, audios, emails, tweets and facebook messages to come your way this weekend, but I''m thinking these are a couple you haven't seen. I wanted to share these two that I have selected for you that are well worth watching today and clinging to- well into the future.
The first is a short video from the great Les Brown speaking about unleashing the greatness within you. Not only is it a powerful message that I hope will inspire you and someone you share it with, but I hope it will also remind you about our founding fathers and those that fought then and continue to fight now…. remind you about their desire had to break free from what holds them back. They were not going to be denied and I hope it will inspire you in the same way.
I hope that when you watch this you will not only be reminded of their greatness but for the greatness that you have within you. I hope this message is something that you needed to hear today. I hope and want the best for all of us. You deserve a greatness that not only will help yourself, but others as well.
Just like our founding fathers back then…
“If you want a thing bad enough to go out and fight for it, to work day and night for it, to give up your time, your peace and your sleep for it…
if all that you dream and scheme is about it, and life seems useless and worthless without it…
if you gladly sweat for it and fret for it and plan for it and lose all your terror of the opposition for it…
if you simply go after that thing you want with all of your capacity, strength and sagacity, faith, hope and confidence and stern pertinacity…
if neither cold, poverty, famine, nor gout, sickness nor pain, of body and brain, can keep you away from the thing that you want…
if dogged and grim you beseech and beset it, with the help of God, you will get it!”
This second one is a little longer and is a audio/video depicting the true story of our National Anthem. It is quite a history listen that I'm sure than many haven't heard before, if you haven't the time right now I hope you will revisit soon.
Thanks for letting me share this today.
