Dear Doctor Dan, We are having some extreme heat/humidity in my part of the country and I was wondering what advice you can give on feeding horses under this condition. My guys are on a farm with grass pasture with lots of trees for shade and lots of water. During the hottest part of the day they are in an airy barn with fans. Salt in stalls and in pasture.
My concern is the grain – should I drop it down some until temp is normal?
Thanks Jane
My biggest suggestion is be sure they always have access to our free-choice fed RED CAL (Not Salt/Mineral Rocks/Blocks) With this- I am not so much worried about grain amount.if are getting correct grain amount etc. (Fresh water of course!)
