Do my horses need vaccines against sleeping sickness caused by mosquitoes or tetanus as a precaution for cuts?
A friend asked me if I wanted to go in with her on an order for these two vaccines.
I really don’t want to do this unless absolutely necessary.
My horses have been home almost a year and I am new to some things.
Please let me know your thoughts and any info. you might share.
Personally I don’t vaccinate for anything under ANY circumstances unless required by law! But I am not the norm.
We show weekly, we have stallions with mares coming and going for breeding etc etc. Lots of exposure in other words.
We just keep the bugs off and keep them healthy.
See the website for links (at right) to “What To feed Your Horse” feeding program, the Library and Magazine.
Our horses have never been any sicker than anyone elses at times of exposure.
Thanks for asking!
