Questions about supplements…

I’m trying to work out the perfect supplements for my 20-year old horse.  As near as I can tell, he’s in perfect health.  His weight, teeth, hooves, appetite, digestion, and mobility are all good.  He’s on Bug Check and Red Cal Hi Mag as well as Sho Glo (a broad spectrum vit/min supplement) and Equitrol (a feed-through fly control).  Other than that, he’s on very poor pasture 24/7 and gets small amount of a complete pelleted feed divided into 8 servings a day (via an automatic feeder).

Questions:
1.  Does Bug Check do anything to prevent flies from breeding in the manure?  If so, I could take him off the Equitrol.  If not, I’d prefer to leave him on it.  I’ve used Equitrol for years, and it does control the flies.  Will Bug Check alone do the same?
2.  Your Joint Check has no MSM in it.  I assume that’s on purpose?
3.  You don’t have a senior supplement that includes both probiotics and a joint supplement?  The cost of BOTH Joint Check and Gut Check are just beyond me — especially for a healthy horse who doesn’t appear to be in need.  (But I want to keep him that way!)  Any suggestions?  Thanks for always answering so promptly.

(absolutely) If not, I’d prefer to leave him on it.  I’ve used Equitrol for years, and it does control the flies. (not fond of chemicals as you probably already know, especially ones you feed to only pass through and hopefully not be absorbed.. which they are .. as proven by courts in CA…. so..)  Will Bug Check alone do the same?  (certianly not the same in any way shape or form but does greatly help)

2.  Your Joint Check has no MSM in it.  I assume that’s on purpose?  MSM is just a cheap source of sulfur.. the other ingredients (everything that is in the product called Health check) provide a much more bioavailable source.

3.  You don’t have a senior supplement that includes both probiotics and a joint supplement?  There are probiotics to some degree in Joint Check plus many more ingredients.. see Health Check page 34 of the magazine… very few horses need Gut Check. The cost of BOTH Joint Check and Gut Check are just beyond me — especially for a healthy horse who doesn’t appear to be in need.  (But I want to keep him that way!)  Any suggestions?  (Other suggestions would be to get him off all commercial feeds which are awful.. see the audio on “What To Feed” on the website and the article on what to feed as well in the magazine..senior feeds are especiallly bad because of the high levels of processeed hydrogenanted fats… I would suggest our Just Add Oats Double Strength Formula and our Weight Check Oil added to oats. I have thousands of seniors on such that do great.)
